Dr. Janna Vavra

Dr. Janna Vavra

PT, DPT

I grew up on a farm near Crete, NE. I was a three sport athlete in high school and college, participating in basketball, cross country, and track. I only chose to run to stay in shape for basketball, but after college I found running to be a very good hobby so kept at it. I picked up cycling a few years later and enjoy challenging myself with long distance, endurance cycling events. I also enjoy mountain biking and am a Level 2 BICP Certified Mountain Bike Skills Instructor. I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. I spent the last three years working in an outpatient orthopedic clinic treating chronic neck and back pain, as well as traditional orthopedic injuries. I provide professional bike fitting and gait analysis to everyday athletes, helping them to perform their best. I am trained in posture restoration, functional dry needling, IASTM, and manual therapy techniques.

CORE VALUES

Movement with purpose: I believe purposeful movement is medicine. Whether you’re a runner, cyclist, weekend adventurer or simply striving to feel better in your everyday life, my goal is to help you move with purpose and feel strong, capable, and confident no matter what you are doing. Empowerment through education: I am committed to helping you understand your body, your training, and your health. By providing clear guidance, functional mobility training, and personalized coaching, I set you up with the tools you need to continue progressing long after your rehab is over. Purpose driven progress: I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where you feel heard, respected, and valued. Your goals become my goals. I want to help you conquer your mountains, no matter how big or small, by creating a personalized plan of care that prioritizes your time and your lifestyle, so you can return to doing what you love as quickly and pain free as possible.

“It’s not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves.”

-Sir Edmund Hillary

I’ve noticed a lot of patients struggle with motivation and sticking to the process. They often want a quick fix, but rehabbing an injury takes time and commitment. My goal is to educate patients on the benefits of lifelong mobility, encourage preventative maintenance, and help them appreciate the process by celebrating the small victories. I am a doctor of physical therapy and the founder of KOM Physical Therapy. I specialize in postural restoration, bike fitting and gait analysis. My goal is to help all active individuals, regardless of their sport, return to performing their activities as quickly as possible following an injury. I also encourage preventative maintenance programs to help reduce the risk of future injuries. I enjoy treating all conditions, but really emphasize postural restoration principles during treatment sessions regardless of the injury. Many injuries stem from poor posture creating muscular imbalances that become exaggerated with repetitive use. Addressing these postural asymmetries and working to correct muscular imbalances not only treats the current aches and pains, but helps reduce potential for future injury. This is a mobile physical therapy practice so I love that I can come to the patient. Today’s schedules are very busy and people often put off their own personal health and well being to take care of other tasks. By having a physical therapist come to your home, office, or favorite trailhead, you receive personalized care without extra time constraints. I also love that patients tend to get better faster because of the personalized care I am able to provide in these settings.
